Welcome to our blog Vivan!

I'm Vivian and I'm the artist and owner of Homie SF. Homie SF is an AAPI, woman owned business based in San Francisco. I founded Homie SF in January 2022 with my partner, Earl, and then Homie SF became a bright canvas for me to showcase my art and make products out of it.

Fun fact: I started Homie SF by hand making soaps during my time working in tech. Creating has and always will be a space for me to escape the real world and my responsibilities.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

What inspires me to draw lately has been collecting things that I love and honestly, anything that makes me happy. All of my art collectively came from the imagination of Earl and I; mostly Earl. But my art is truly both of our likes and personalities combined!

How did you find the medium you enjoyed crafting for?

I create a lot of stationery products like stickers and prints, as well as keychains and pins. These goods matter to me because they are essentially a piece of Earl and I. It came from our minds and the process of drawing and creating the product to make it physical is not always an easy task and definitely something we take seriously to ensure we create the best product we can. What I create also matters to me because these are products that I wished I could have as a child, so in a way, I'm healing my own inner child and those who also find joy in my art. I want my art to bring joy or at least make someone's day a little better.

A favorite part of my process definitely has to be when I turn my art into physical products. Being able to feel and hold the product as I imagined, is the best feeling. Then having people be excited to see our products is another favorite feeling of mine.

Have you faced any difficulties as a small business owner?

At some of my events, I wish more people understood that I actually draw everything in my booth. Maybe I'm not advertising myself correctly, but this is the one thing that I hope to improve on as soon as I can. It can be disheartening to have people not realize that they're buying directly from the artist and not a third party seller. I have had people think that I got my products from Temu/Amazon and it is frustrating.

What are you excited to explore creatively?

Right now, I am excited about brainstorming new ideas for new products! I really want to make more products that aren't really stationary, like more claw clips/hair clips, blankets, and totes just to name a few.

How can people keep in touch?

Thank you for this cool opportunity to share a little bit about me :)
