I was born and raised in San Francisco. Four generations on my mom's side lived in SF Chinatown since the 1850's. Currently I'm a biology teacher at Galileo High School.
I create a weekly podcast called the InfatuAsian Podcast, which is a show that talks to and about Asian creators. It matters to me, because I started caring about my Asian roots much later in life, partially because there weren't a lot of Asians on the air or on our screens. I'd like to think that I'm giving Asian creators and their stories a voice.
I was at home teaching during the pandemic. I had a Zoom account and a microphone and figured it would be nice to get some positive stories about Asian culture and creators out into the universe.
I learn something about my identity from every episode. Speaking with creative and ambitions Asian Americans inspires and educates me in my own journey to understand who I am, and where I came from. I just love speaking with guests and learning from them. Some guests are fairly well known, while others have a much smaller niche, but either way, I always learn something and enjoy our chats. I'm excited that I'm still having fun doing it! I didn't know how long I would do it, but I haven't gotten bored or tired of producing episodes because it's fun and has it's own rewards!
We're primarily on Instagram @infatuasianpodcast, but can be listened to on Spotify, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get podcasts.
It would be nice if people could help spread the word about the podcast. People don't swipe on podcasts for hours, so we don't go viral. Our growth is very organic and intentional (i.e. people don't usually find us randomly, someone needs to recommend us organically).
