From artist Christina Hu: "Living in California I have the luxury of going to a farmers market once, twice, even thrice a week without leaving my city. It's truly a treat watching the produce change throughout the year. What they say is true, the pumpkins are sweeter in the fall, citrus has more zest in the winter, and somehow you can eat a pretty good potato or cabbage any time of year.
"This calendar helps you eat with the seasons by sharing what's good and sexy in each season. Foodies, gardeners, home cooks, and chefs, this one is for you. Not only are there vibrant produce illustrations, there's a little chart in the back if you want to see your year at a glance.
"This is a calendar that can accommodate your vibrant and busy schedule. Also, there's moon phases because it's fun. Who knows, maybe you want to be able to tell at a glance the best time of month to have a seance, avoid werewolves, or see bioluminescent plankton in its full glory."
Because of the vicissitudes of the Risograph printing process, each print is unique and may slightly vary from the photos shown.
Christina Hu is a Berkeley-based printmaker who loves food, women, and being Chinese—and exploring all these things through risograph art. Her work celebrates and uplifts her queer and Asian-American communities through colour, humor, and nostalgia. She makes prints, zines, postcards, stickers, and more.
