Taiwanese Homecoming is a replica of my travel sketchbook with 20 colored pencil journal spreads of favorites places to eat around Taiwan. The cover design is modeled after Taiwan's passport, and serves as a juxtaposition to the maximalist and colorful interior. The spreads include Taipei, Kaohsiung, Tainan, Taichung, Yilan, Jiaoxi, and Hualien. The original artwork was all done in colored pencil.
The book is 5" x 8" with a staple binding for easy flipping that best mimics flipping through a passport.
Felicia Liang's work is inspired by the cultures and communities she’s around, as well as her own inner musings. She loves using color, experimenting with different mediums, and playing with a wide range of styles – from simple line drawings to maximalist compositions.
She began drawing as a way to tell stories, with a focus on her Taiwanese American upbringing and Chinatowns in New York and California. She creates to explore her place in the world and illustrate both the beauty and weirdness of everyday life.
